Double Refraction Calcite

Calcite is one of the most common materials on earth. It's used in everything from construction, art, and even medicine. It can be found in rocks of all kinds. These glass-like specimens of crystal calcite are far rarer, remarkably translucent, and entirely absent of color. Their double refraction characteristics bend the world’s light in a mesmerizing way and have been creatively used by many civilizations like the Egyptians, Vikings, and even in World War II weaponry.
