Poison Dart Frog 7" Plush Animal

The Poison Dart Frog, native to Central and South America, is known for its brightly colored body and toxicity. Their diet, primarily consisting of ants, mites, and small beetles, defines how toxic these frogs are. Biologists are unclear if the toxicity or the bright colors evolved first.

The most poisonous of the Poison Dart Frogs, the golden poison frog (Phyllobates terribilis), has enough toxin on average to kill ten to twenty men or about twenty thousand mice! Most other frogs, while colorful and toxic enough to discourage predation, pose far less risk to humans or other large animals.
